I will once again be participating in the Southern Oregon Book & Author Fair on Saturday, November 21 in the 2nd floor ballroom of the Ashland Springs Hotel in beautiful downtown. Ashland. I’ll be signing and selling copies of The Mystery of Things, chatting with my fellow regional authors and book lovers, and generally enjoying a day of bookish kanoodling.
Though this is (if memory serves) my fourth time round with the book fair, it will be the first time as an Ashlander, which has allowed me to participate more with behind-the-scenes preparations. Specifically, I’ve been building the book fair’s new website, which is where you should go for more info if you’re thinking of attending!
With something like sixty authors in attendance, It will be a great way to start your Christmas shopping for all those book lovers among your friends and family!
Before the holiday season comes full blown upon us, I thought I’d share some pictures we took from this year’s Halloween celebration.
Halloween (like Christmas) is a very big deal here in Ashland, and the adults get into it as much as the kids. The downtown celebration usually begins shortly after school lets out with a parade of costumed kids (and adults) from the public library down to the Plaza–five or six blocks. Then all the kids go trick-or-treating. Most of the shopkeepers oblige by having someone stand outside with a bowl of treats to pass around to all the goblins and ghoulies.
These pics were taken by John, who escorted our youngest, who went as Darth Vadar, complete with one of those battery -operated masks with a James Earl Jones voice that breathes heavily and says things like “You don’t know the power of the Dark Side!”, etc.
I will once again be participating in the Southern Oregon Book and Author Fair, Saturday, November 15, 2008, selling and signing copies of THE MYSTERY OF THINGS. No doubt I will also be buying/trading books books from/with other authors as well—I am always impressed by the quality and variety of books being published by our regional writers here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
